Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you located? What is the studio like?
  • Our studio is located at 2303 Dunlavy Street, Houston, Texas 77006, 2 blocks north of Westheimer right in the heart of Montrose. There is ample on street parking and, if you ride your bike, there is a place to lock bikes right outside the front door.

We have custom designed our studio space to allow for a warm and spacious yoga experience. When you enter you will see a welcoming front desk and entry area where you can catch up on what's happening and store your gear before class. Off the entry area are two bathrooms/changing rooms. Our large studio room is bright and airy with a cork floor.

Q: What classes and class times do you offer? What are the class rates?
  • We have classes to accommodate all schedules including morning, lunch time, late evening, and weekend classes. Our classes are designed with experience levels in mind but if you have any questions about your ability level or see a time that works best for you please do not hesitate to ask any of our staff. We are here to accommodate your needs.

Rates for our yoga classes vary according to class time length. You can save time and money by signing up for a 5 or 10 class block online or at the front desk. See our yoga class rates or learn about our teacher training programs.

Events and workshops are individually priced. Check out our upcoming workshops and events.

Q: What do I need to bring to class with me? Is there any etiquette I should know about?
  • Always come with an open heart and mind. You are the most important part of your practice. It is important to stay hydrated. Feel free to fill your water bottle complimentary at our water cooler, located by the front desk. Bring a yoga mat to practice on. They can be purchased around the Houston area at sporting goods and department stores, or online. If you ever forget a mat, we have a supply of mats available for use at our studio.

Please try to arrive to class 15 minutes before the start time. If you coming to the studio for the first time this is especially important so you have time to fill out our waiver and get acquainted with the space. When entering the yoga room please do so quietly and with respect to other students, if you need to leave class to use the facilities please do so in the same manner. If you need to leave class early please inform the teacher in advance and set up your mat close to the door to minimize the disruption of the class. Shoes are not to be worn inside the studio room. Use the cubbies in the reception area for your personal belongings including cell phones, pagers, iPads, and PDAs. Please be sure that the sounds is turned off or to vibrate on all your communication devices. If you are a medical professional who needs to be near these devices they may be brought into the studio room on vibrate only.

Q: Who is yoga for?
  • Absolutely everyone. Many people are timid about coming to a yoga class because they believe they aren’t flexible enough, strong enough, or relaxed enough. This is exactly why you start the practice to begin with! Yoga increases your flexibility, your strength, and brings inner peace and calmness to your heart, mind, body, and spirit.

Q: I am injured/previously had surgery/pregnant. Can I practice yoga at Pralaya?
  • Many of our students come to Pralaya Yoga Studio specifically to address injuries and joint and muscle limitations from previous surgeries or chronic physical misalignment. Our teachers are thoroughly trained in anatomy and physiology to help correct muscle imbalances and energetic misalignments that cause physical discomfort and energetic dissonance in your body. More practically speaking let your teacher know about any issues and concerns you have before class begins so they can help you make the necessary modifications.

Q: How can I sign up for a class or workshop in advance?
  • You can either come into the studio or sign up online. There are two options for signing up online, using this website or using the MindBody Connect app on your Android phone or iPhone. To sign up using our website, go to the classes or events and workshops page to get started. Additionally, you may want to see our class pricing or learn about our teacher training programs.

Q: Can I sign up online for multiple classes at once?
  • Yes. To do this, go to the class schedule page and click the "Sign-up" button next to the first class you want to sign up for. A pop-up will appear asking you to log in. Once logged in you will be shown a confirmation that you have signed up for this first class. Simply click the "X" in the top right of the window to close out of it and continue selecting classes. Each time you click "Sign-up" going forward click "Continue" to confirm you that you also want to sign up for the newly selected class or workshop.

Q: I signed up online for a class but can no longer make the class. How can I cancel my reservation?
  • To do this you will need to either login to MindBody online or use the MindBody Connect app. If you use MindBody online, log in and then find the class on the schedule. Click on the green "Registered!" link. You will be shown your schedule with all classes that you're signed up for. Click the "Cancel" link next to the class you want to cancel and confirm in the pop-up window.
