TEACHER MONICA TOWNSEND
Monica Townsend had been searching for a positive outlet to release anxiety and stress when Yoga came into her life. With curiosity piqued, she zealously began to explore the mind/body connection which bubbled to the surface each Yoga class. Advanced studies of anatomy/physiology in relation to asana illumined her fascination with fascia—the uninterrupted web of connective tissue traversing the whole body. She is most interested in developing an approach to Wellness which synthesizes Meridian Theory with Hindu and Buddhist philosophy; hence, her teaching style integrates thoughtful, slow-flow movement with stillness.
Monica Townsend 200 RYT has specialized Yoga certifications in Sacred Somatic: Anatomy/Physiology, Yin Yoga + Meditation, Integrative Yoga Therapy and Restorative Yoga Therapy. Having discovered a passion for bodywork and healing touch, she is also formally certified in John F. Barnes Fascial-Pelvis Myofascial Release and is a Reiki II practitioner. Being an enthused student at heart, Monica continues to study and participate in teacher trainings to develop her skills in healing modalities. She has returned from India with an updated viewpoint on Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama and Asana Practice.
