CLASS OFFERINGS

At Pralaya Yoga Studio in Houston we offer a wide variety of classes that cater to the diverse needs of our community. Enjoy the range of classes from beginner to advanced, personal practices to family classes, traditional Ashtanga yoga to the Chinese Tai Chi martial art, and of course our teacher training programs.

Pralaya Beginner

This class type is for all those new to yoga or new to PRALAYA yoga. Learn fundamental postures and alignment principles that will enable a safe and effective beginning to or advancement of a yoga practice. Expect detailed instruction and adjustments. Leave class having discovered new ways to activate muscles and replenished with a calm energy.

Pralaya ALL LEVELS

For active beginners to experienced. Achieve muscle balance through the cultivation of strength and flexibility. Explore variations on classical poses and an introduction to pranayama (breathing) in order to maximize the activation of muscles, organs, and energy systems. For those with more experience, find challenge in pose progressions. Expect detailed instruction, revisiting of simple reference poses (i.e. forward fold, squat) to highlight the state of muscle balance, and mention of physiological effects of poses. Leave class feeling the best kind of paradox - accomplished yet challenged and relaxed yet energetic.

PRALAYA EXPERIENCED

For those with a regular yoga practice. Achieve muscle balance through the cultivation of strength and flexibility. Explore more advanced variations on classical poses and go deeper into different types of pranayama (breathing) in order to maximize the activation of muscles, organs, and energy systems. Expect to be challenged in pose progressions as well as detailed explanations of a given pose’s physiological effects. Leave class feeling the best kind of paradox – accomplished yet challenged and relaxed yet energetic.

PRALAYA ADVANCED YOGA INTENSIVE

This class is for those with a regular yoga practice. Achieve muscle balance through the cultivation of strength and flexibility. Explore more advanced variations on classical poses and go deeper into different types of pranayama (breathing) in order to maximize the activation of muscles, organs, and energy systems. Expect to be challenged in pose progressions as well as detailed explanations of a given pose’s physiological effects. Leave class feeling the best kind of paradox – accomplished yet challenged and relaxed yet energetic.​

ROCKET YOGA

Rocket yoga is a playful and progressive approach to a powerful vinyasa practice that leaves students feeling rejuvenated and excited for more. Rocket yoga is based on the Ashtanga yoga system.

SHAKTI POWER KUNDALINI AND MEDITATION

Kundalini Yoga revitalizes the body, lifts the spirit, and cleanses the mind. With the practice of Kriyas (yoga sets) combining asanas, breathwork, meditation, and relaxing gong baths, each 75-minute class provides a mindful physical workout and a soulful experience.

We enter the practice by ‘tuning in’ together, chanting the Adi Mantra, ‘Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo’ - I bow to Wise Teacher within. This connects us with our Higher mind, our inner wisdom. It also brings the class together energetically, thus we empower each other's practice.

We then begin with a Pranayama or warm-up exercises, bringing our consciousness and body into preparedness for our main Kriya. Every Kriya offers a unique experience and generates a specific outcome. For example, it might benefit the lungs and heart, cultivate peace, or activate prosperity and abundance. There are thousands of Kriyas to experience.

The deep and relaxing savasana that follows is enhanced with the sonic healing vibrations of the gong. The pranic energy, hormones, and brain chemistry find a new equilibrium whilst your consciousness expands. This creates the perfect state for our last practice, meditation.

To end our practice, we close with the chant, ‘Sat Nam’ (I am my truth) and blessing. The kundalini experience does not mean you have gone into a deep breathless trance and are beyond this world. It integrates you more fully with reality and gives you a broader vision and sensitivity so that you can act more efficiently. // Yogi Bhajan

CREATIVELY ENGAGED STRENGTH, ALIGNMENT AND STRENGTH

Liz teaches creatively sequenced strength-based classes focusing on alignment, engagement, and breath awareness.

Rest + Restore + Soundbath (Adult Nap Time)

Take a journey through the Chakras with John and Saumil as they bring you a Rest + Restorative Yoga + Singing Bowls + Wind-chimes (Adult nap time). The benefits of sound therapy include:
• Enhances productivity
• Relieves stress
• Improves mood
• Floods brain with dopamine
• Releases oxytocin
• Improves communication
• Improves memory
• Helps with anxiety, PTSD, pain, negative emotions and mood swings
• Improves sleep
• Creates a stronger immune system

• Opens the pineal gland - the organ in charge of intuition.

PRALAYA TRAINING

For all interested in learning about yoga in an academic context. Improve individual yoga practice or teaching by joining PRALAYA Yoga Creator, Robert Boustany, and/or esteemed guest speakers for a lecture and relaxed Q&A forum focusing on a variety of relevant topics. Classes with Robert and select guest lecturers count towards Yoga Alliance continuing education (CE) requirements for teachers.

TAI CHI

For all – beginners and those with health conditions to experienced yogis and elite athletes. Restore energy and improve muscle control in this ancient Chinese martial arts practice. Combine slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises for a low-impact means of achieving increased circulation, balance and alignment.

TEACHER TRAINING

Train to become a yoga teacher under the guidance of renowned teacher and studio owner Robert Boustany. We offer both RYT-200 and 300 programs.
